The Skin. Online Consultation

Let's get to know your skin — properly.

Before you come in for your face-to-face consultation, we'd love to understand your skin, your health and your story. This takes around 10–15 minutes and finishes with a photographic skin analysis — so your specialist can hit the ground running the moment you walk in.

Our approach: skin revision, not quick fixes

Prescribing to the principle of 'keeping it real', we utilise the skin's innate ability to regenerate and rebuild. Far from quick fixes or invasive procedures, The Lab takes a focused, holistic approach to the body's largest organ — harnessing the power of your own natural chemistry so your skin can function optimally, as nature intended.

01

Skin is an organ

Your skin reflects what's happening inside your body — hormones, gut health, stress and sleep all show up on your face. That's why we ask about more than just skincare.

02

Cause, not symptom

We don't chase blemishes. We identify the underlying condition — then revise it at a cellular level using the highest-grade botanical chemistry your cells recognise and accept.

03

Long-term results

Real skin change is a collaboration. In-studio treatments plus your commitment at home is how we build strong, healthy, youthfully-functioning skin that lasts.

Your privacyEverything you share here — including your photos — stays on your device while you complete the consultation. Photo analysis runs privately in your browser. Nothing is sent to The Lab until you review and submit at the end. Your information is only used to tailor your treatment plan and is accessible to authorised staff only.
Step 1

About you.

Why we ask this
Your details let us create your client record, contact you about your appointment and prescription, and — importantly — your date of birth and occupation give us context about life stage and daily environment (air-conditioning, outdoor UV, shift work) that genuinely affect your skin.
Please complete the required fields marked *
Step 2

Your skin story.

Why we ask this
What bothers you about your skin matters as much as what we observe. Two people with identical skin can have completely different priorities — your goals shape the order in which we revise, and how we measure success together.
Please tell us your main concern
Step 3

Your current routine.

Why we ask this
Skincare ingredients interact. Actives like AHAs, retinoids and vitamin C change how your skin will respond to professional treatment — some need to be paused before certain services. Your foundation habits also matter: heavy or daily wear can contribute to congestion and can mask (literally) what your skin is trying to tell us. This is also the foundation of our #breakupwithyourmakeup philosophy — skin healthy enough to go bare.
Step 4

Health & medical history.

Why we ask this
This is about safety and results. Some conditions and medications change how your skin heals, how it responds to actives, enzymes, LED or microneedling — and some are contraindications we must know about before treating you. Everything you share is confidential and used solely to design a treatment plan that is safe and effective for you.
Completely optional hereWe understand it can feel uncomfortable to share medical history online — please don't feel pressured to do so here. Tick the box below and we'll go through it together, privately and unhurried, at your consultation instead. Nothing about your experience changes.

A few important specifics

Step 5

Hormonal health.

Every body runs on hormones — whatever your gender, they're one of the biggest drivers of how skin behaves. Answer what applies to you, skip what doesn't.

Why we ask this
Breakouts, pigmentation (especially melasma), oil flow and sensitivity all respond to hormonal shifts — cycles, puberty, pregnancy, menopause, PCOS, and hormonal medications including contraception, HRT and gender-affirming hormone therapy. Knowing what's influencing your hormones helps us read your skin's patterns correctly, and some life stages and medications also change which treatments and ingredients are safest for you.
Step 6

Lifestyle & internal health.

Why we ask this
In naturopathic philosophy, the gut is the root of the health of every organ — including your skin. If you can't extract and absorb nutrients, your skin can't build collagen, repair its barrier or regulate oil. Sugar drives glycation (the stiffening of collagen that accelerates ageing), dairy and stress influence breakouts, and sleep is when your skin does its deepest repair. Your heritage tells us about your Fitzpatrick type and how your skin manages pigment and reacts to treatment.
Step 7

Your photographic skin analysis.

Now the exciting part. We'll capture three photos of your face and run a preliminary analysis right here in your browser — mapping your facial zones and reading signals of redness, pigmentation, congestion, texture, oil flow and transepidermal water loss.

Why we do this
Skin conditions live in patterns — where something appears on your face is as diagnostic as what it looks like. Redness concentrated across the nose and cheeks reads differently to redness around the mouth; pigment in symmetrical patches reads differently to scattered spots. This preliminary analysis, combined with your answers, gives your skin specialist a working picture before your in-person consult — where it will be confirmed under professional magnification and lighting.
For best resultsFind soft, even, natural light (facing a window is perfect). Remove makeup if you can, tie hair off your face, remove glasses. Hold the camera at eye level.
Also completely optionalWe understand sharing photos of your skin online can feel uncomfortable or vulnerable — please don't feel pressured to do it here. You're welcome to skip this step and have your visual analysis done in person, in studio, where it's done properly anyway.

We'll take three angles: front on, left side, and right side.

1Front on
2Left side
3Right side

Photos are analysed privately on your device and only shared with The Lab when you submit. They're used purely for consultation purposes — never on social media, never in marketing — and are not stored on your client file.

Please capture or upload at least a front-on photo to continue
Step 8

A few things a photo can't tell us.

Cameras see colour and texture — but they can't feel tightness, flushing or itch. These questions help us tell apart conditions that can look identical in a photo.

Step 9

Your skin signals — a starting point.

Important — please read before your resultsWhat follows is a guide, not a diagnosis — and it won't always be right. At-home photos and questionnaires can only pick up signals: lighting, makeup, screen quality and camera angles all affect what we see, and many skin conditions look identical without professional magnification, lighting and touch. Nothing below is confirmed until your face-to-face consultation, where your skin specialist will properly analyse your skin — and may well revise, add to or rule out what you see here. Please don't change your routine or self-treat based on this report alone; its job is simply to start the conversation. And if what your specialist finds in person differs from this page — it sometimes will — that's not a flaw. The face-to-face consult is where the real answers live; this page just means you'll both arrive ready.
Please note: this is a preliminary, educational analysis generated from your photos and answers — it is not a medical diagnosis. Your skin specialist will confirm, refine or revise these findings during your face-to-face consultation under professional conditions, and design your treatment plan from there. Some conditions (like keratosis pilaris on the body, or internal drivers) can't be assessed from facial photos at all.
Step 10 — last one

Real results are a partnership.

The most honest thing we can tell you before you come in: skin revision is not a one-visit fix — and anyone who promises otherwise isn't keeping it real.

01

Skin works in cycles

A full skin cell cycle takes roughly a month. Meaningful revision builds over several cycles and beyond — each treatment compounds on the last, which is why programs outperform one-offs every time.

02

Home care is half the result

What you do twice a day at home outweighs what we do regularly in studio. Your specialist will prescribe simply and realistically — consistency beats complexity.

03

We guide, you glow

Your specialist designs the plan, tracks your progress and adjusts as your skin changes. Your part is showing up — for your appointments, and for your bathroom shelf.

Where are you at right now?

There's no wrong answer — this just helps your specialist meet you exactly where you are.
